The booklet published in 1946 to commemorate St. Paul's Centennial tells us: "It is believed that services may have been held by travelling missionaries in the Norval area as early as 1830. At a Vestry meeting in the schoolhouse in 1845 it was decided that a church should be built. During the course of that meeting it was resolved that the church, which was completed in 1846 and first used for service in 1847, should be named St. Paul's".

Beginning with the General Sir Peter Adamson, who donated the land on which the church still stands, the congregants have included many prominent members of the community, such as Magistrate William Clay, Warden of Halton Country and Reeve of Esquesing Township, Messers Gooderham and Worts, along with Norval's own Dr. Samuel Webster and many more.

In 1927 a simple Parish Hall was erected adjacent to the church. Today, the hall is used throughout the year for community functions and is now internationally known as the venue used by Lucy Maud Montgomery, who directed performances of her "Old Thyme Concerts".
